Soul Purpose

As Mark Twain said: “The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why”, I could easily agree that I have spent most of my life “searching” for this life purpose, and I was indeed in the midst of it when I encountered Reiki. I don’t even remember how I came across it or how it caught my attention, as I was never interested in the practice of Reiki. Also, Reiki was banned in Japan after the World War II and not practiced for many years, so during the years I was brought up there, it was not a popular subject and I had never met anyone who practiced it.

I did all four levels of Reiki with the same master in Barcelona, and I was the only Japanese student she had back then. My last name, Hayashi, happens to be the same as one of the most important disciples of Usui Mikao, the founder of Reiki, and later on my master had told me that she wondered if I was related to the disciple. I told her “No”, as it is quite a common last name in Japan. Strangely though, Usui is not a common last name, and I have some family members that have this last name on my father’s side, so I have always felt destined and that Reiki was somewhat meant for me.

I took my learning seriously, and I practiced the energy healing with every friend of mine who was willing to try it. When I did the third level, I felt quite satisfied with it, and didn’t look to pursue it further. Reiki would always remain my own personal ritual that I could occasionally share with others, I thought. This changed at the end of 2017, when a recurring conflict pushed me to do the fourth level, which is the teacher level. I had no intension to teach Reiki back then, just a desire to spiritually advance so I could resolve this recurring conflict that was causing me so much distress.

Shortly after completing it, I traveled back to Japan, and did a Vipassana 10-day meditation course in Kyoto. This was my third Vipassana course, and I had also enlisted my mother, who had been on a solo spiritual journey to India for about 20 times by then, to come and try the meditation course with me. Needless to say, it was an enlightening experience for her. Then on our way back, we climbed Kurama Yama, a mountain known to be a sacred place in Kyoto, where Mikao Usui received his ability to heal with hands. It was a sunny January day and we did not see many visitors once we climbed to the top. As we stood there, a wind blew, with some water droplets, and we both heard this mysterious voice that came from the sky. It seemed to greet and welcome us.

I have worked with cosmetics and wellness all my life, but never had it occurred to me that I would be able to combine the knowledge with the practice of Reiki. But now, as I write this post, it seems as if I was preparing myself for this all my life. Somehow Reiki always had an image of an esoteric practice that only a limited few would be interested in pursuing. My intention through Beauty Vibrations is to change this. I feel it’s my soul purpose to present Reiki through another perspective that would make it look more familiar and approachable. Reiki is no longer a mysterious practice behind the closed door, but rather, it is for all of us, so we may awaken to our natural gift of healing and raising our vibrations so we can live life in harmony.

Reiki also helps our connection with our higher self, which means that in our pursuit for our life purpose, we may find answers to why we are here, and what we are meant to do. After all, the answer is all there within us. It’s the connection within that helps us to see them.
